ACORN TV Free 1 Month Trial

This is a sponsored post that contains affiliate links.

Watch the Best British TV Anytime, Anywhere

"Acorn TV has over 60 shows you won't find anywhere else including classic and contemporary mysteries, dramas, and comedies from the UK, Australia, and Canada. With new shows added weekly, there’s always something to watch!" - Acorn.TV

If you love British TV then this review is for you. I really had a bad Murdoch Mysteries addiction. I was heavily binge watching all 7 seasons on Netflix. Sadly that ended and I looked up where to watch Season 8. The ONLY place was ACORN TV. I previously had a trial subscription when Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries Season 3 came out and ACORN TV was the only place that had it first. Unfortunately Season 3 has moved on to Netflix but they still have season 1 & 2. What is great about this subscription is that it is only $4.99 a month  or $49.99 a year; making it by far one of the least expensive subscription service around. If you have kids this isn't for them it is mainly adult streaming content.

Some of the known favorites are:

Murdoch Mysteries 1-8
Agatha Christie's Poirot
Nigella's Christmas Kitchen
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries 1-2
Prisoners Wives (Coming dec 21)
Doc Martin

Agatha Christie's Partners In Crime
Jack Irish
The Brokenwood Mysteries
Black Work

It's honestly a lovely alternative to regular old TV streaming. Plus it's inexpensive. Know a British TV fan? You can also Gift them a years subscription for $49.99 a year.

Sign up for your free trial HERE

*While this post is not sponsored by ACORN TV, this post does contain affiliate links. That means I will receive one month of ACORN TV for every person who signs up for a free trial. Anyone can do this. You can too. Just sign up and refer your friends for a free month.

Ozeri Wine Opener

*This post is sponsored by Ozeri.

Have you ever knocked a cork into a bottle of wine?  I have. I know I'm embarrassed but everyone has to learn how to open wine sometime right? At least not by hand you don't. I was sent this lovely Electric Wine Opener by Ozeri to review.

I'm used to hand corking each wine bottle cork and pulling it out. With this opener its super easy and takes a few seconds. It comes with a charger that the opener sits in. You can plug it in or remove the charger cord and have it just  sit in the charger if you don't want the wire to hang out. I charged mine overnight a good 10 hours and it was fully charged.

How it works is you place the opener over the bottle of wine. After you have removed the foil. This set comes with a foil cutter and a wine aerator so you have both at  hand. Just place the opener over the bottle of wine and press the down arrow on the opener. Make sure not to go all the way down the cork because this will make it harder to remove. You only need to go down enough to be able to pull the cork out.

Once you have done that you simply pull. To remove the cork you grab the cork at the bottom and press the up arrow button.  If you put the corkscrew down too far it will be hard to remove it. If you do just use something to grab onto the cork while you press on the up arrow button.

When you're done you just place it back on the charger. Because its slim design it doesn't take up much counter space at all. I set mine to the left of my sink. It looks really modern, isn't flashy and blends in well with kitchen.

It says with a fully charged battery that it should open 80 bottles of wine. I haven't quite gotten there yet but wish me luck! At least you don't have to constantly charge it after each use. You could probably toss it in the picnic basket and go!

You can find this wine opener on Amazon HERE. As of now they are still in stock and available to ship before Christmas.

*I received a sample of the Ozeri Wine Opener in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

JS Lighting Voice-Activated Laser Review

I've already put up my Christmas tree. I know its a bit early but I really couldn't help myself. This year I decided to spice things up a bit by trying some Holiday Lighting. I found a great laser by JS Lighting that has green and red laser stars which is of course perfect for me. The best part is that it is Voice-Activated. There is also a setting for Music, so the strobe hits on the beat.

There seems to be at least 3 ways of mounting this. It has a handle, 3 bendable feet, and a sort of clip on the bottom. It is surprisingly light and it is a bright metallic blue color. You can aim this either at the ceiling or at the wall. You could probably even do the floor. The colors are mainly red and green. Perfect for Holiday celebrations or parties. It's actually rather small in size. The green and red lights are in the shape of star. I think they look like snowflakes. If you put the motor on very slow and the Stroboflash off it is a really nice slow light show. There are four main controls on the back.

Motor Controller - you can control how fast the motor spins even coming to a full stop.
Music/Auto - You can run this to play on auto or music which will respond to voice or music beats.
Stroboflash Controller- You can control the speed of the Stroboflash (Flashing) with this button.
Stroboflash/ON/OFF- You can set it to on (Constant), OFF, or Stroboflash (Flashing).

I found that if you face this towards the ceiling you get the greatest coverage. It covered about 20 feet of my living room. You just need to make sure you mount it in the right spot with the most coverage and no interference from objects or people. I tested it against my white house on the outside and it really showed up nicely on the light surface and really nice at night. I personally enjoyed it on a slower spinning motor and a slower Stroboflash setting but the voice activated faster settings are perfect for music parties.

Check the Voice-Activated Laser by JS Lighting out on amazon HERE. #mantianxing

*I received a discount on the JS Lighting Voice-Activated Laser in exchange for writing this blog post. All opinions are my own.

Save-A-Lot Back-To-School Tips + Giveaway

*#sweeps I'm required to disclose a working relationship between our site and Save-A-Lot. This could include Save-A-Lot providing us with content, product, access or other forms of payment.

Its that time again, school has started and you are so caught up in clothing, school, classes and everything else that you forget about setting up lunch ideas for the kids. If your kids are anything like mine they are the pickiest eaters on the planet. I'm going to share some ideas on how to make regulars like Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches look cool. And by cool , I mean cool enough to eat!

Please note that prices may vary from location to location.

I stopped by my Taft, CA location to check the store out and I must admit it is looking very nice these days. The staff caught me staring at the produce section asking if I needed help I am sure they thought I was a little goofy. I mean seriously who stares at bananas taking pictures unless you are a Minion from Despicable Me.  As you can see from the picture below the produce is looking great! Fresh and the selection is looking good too.  I love how all the green bananas are on the right.

To snag my ingredients for the PB&J's I headed to get some Panner Peanut Butter and Bramley's Jelly. A regular old PB&J can be rather boring for kids. So I borrowed some sandwich cutters to enhance the appearance and see if it made a difference. I have no idea where to get these folks but I know they exist so you may want to do a google search to find them. My kids eat around crusts anyway so these are great for getting them inspired about what they are eating. Its pretty easy to use. Ok so the Tie Fighter PB & J version didn't turn out so hot but that turkey version turned out great. It seems the more intricate the sandwich cutter the harder it is to make it perfect. But I don't think the kiddos cared because they were just interested in what I was doing and checked the sandwiches out because they were something fun and new. I would say it was a win.

  • Gather your sandwich cutter.
  • Make your sandwich.
  • Place the sandwich cutter directly over your sandwich.
  • Press down, peel (or cut) away the crust and you have your fancy sandwich.
If you are especially gifted you can attempt to carve out your own unique designs! Be creative!

You can use it to make just about any kind of sandwich art you desire. Seeing the honey on the shelf reminded me of old times as a kid when I made honey and PB sandwiches. YUM. You can even cut your cheese sticks to go along with your theme such as cheese lightsabers.  You could turn the Millenium Falcon sideways and make a face with raisins and cheese.

For a quick snack with items you might already have in the home. I took J. Higgs crackers and Panner Hazel Nutter to make a sandwich cookie. You can also switch it up using half Panner Peanut Butter & half Panner Hazel Nutter or even just the classic peanut butter. Reminds me of the days when I would take a chocolate bar and dip it into a jar of peanut butter. My kids love these crackers from J. Higgs. They would probably eat them with anything on top but especially so with the Hazel Nutter. You could do less Hazel Nutter and put a few of these in sandwich bags for a snack.

They have a great price on Coburn farms yogurt and their String Cheese is perfect for snacks.  Its a go to for my girls and they always eat cheese. I will often take Coburn yogurt, some juice and water mixed together to make a great smoothie if the girls don't feel like eating yogurt. And they sell these great Bio Salud! probiotic boosters that are great for adding to your smoothies.

The Kiggins Frosty Flakes were under $2 and taste great!
If you are like my family your kids wake up hungry. Moms always have a ton of things going on and we can't always make fancy breakfasts. Save-A-Lot had some great choices for quick breakfasts from Kiggins Cereal, Morning Delight Toaster Pastries, Oatmeal and Grits.  And I did pick up the Chocolate Fudge  Morning Delight Toaster Pastries and they taste like brownies to me. Literally taste like brownies. And for $1.99 I am in love.

Snug Plug n Play Kids Headphones Review

* I was provided a sample of Snug Plug n Play Kids Headphones in order to provide a review of my honest opinions.

Snug Plug n Play Kids Headphones

In my quest to make sure my upcoming 16 hour drive with my two year old twins would go smoothly I sought out some trip tips. I discovered the most repeated advice was to make sure I take headphones. Headphones? Ear buds obviously don't work on a toddler, and I didn't have any "kids" gadgets at all. When I was offered the opportunity to sample the Snug Plug n Play Kids Headphones I thought "What Perfect Timing!".  When I got to the order page I was stuck in between pink and purple. I have one twin that loves purple and figured  I would order that color because its so unique. I have a hard time finding tech gadgets in that color at all. So purple the color was, I ordered them and they arrived promptly.

She totally knew how to use them!

The trip was the first for me and the girls. I thought an ipad would help provide entertainment. And it did that was until Elmo promptly led one of the girls to throw up. She was carsick. And the video was not helping. She was cranky understandably but her sister was fussy. I was able to connect these headphones to a tablet and sick sister didn't even know that she was watching Elmo.

Super soft ear covers

I tried these on myself and they fit me. They are adjustable and fit from age 3+ so while they say kids, they will be able to grow into them without having to buy a new pair. The speakers have 40mm driver units so the sound quality is pretty decent. They don't go up too loud so you don' t have to worry about ear damage with these.  They are compatible with any 3.5 mm jack with a 1.2m cord.. I used it with my phone, pc and the ipad so I know they were plug and play with each of those devices. I have had headphones not recognized by devices before which basically rendered it useless but these worked on everything I tried them on.

These headphones are also available in the following colors shown:

Some Features:

  • Universal headphones designed specially with kids in mind - these plug into anything!
  • Compatible with iPod, iPhone, iPad, PSP, LeapPad, Nintendo DS and all other electronic devices with a standard headphone jack
  • No more video game noises or phone notifications - these headphones provide peace and quiet for you, while your kids plug in and play
  • Thick, single-side cable that's prepared for heavy use and minimizes tangling
  • Tough, durable plastic construction - designed with kids in mind!

You can pick these headphones up at HERE.

About The Originals The Complete Second Season

As Original vampire-werewolf hybrid Klaus Mikaelson returned to the vibrant, supernaturally charged city of New Orleans in season one, he was stunned to learn — along with his siblings Elijah and Rebekah — that Hayley, a werewolf, was pregnant with his child, and his vampire protégé, Marcel, whom the Original siblings had thought long dead, was ruling the French Quarter. Soon, a bloody war escalated between vampires and witches — the stakes raised by powerful teenage witch Davina and by Klaus’s bond with Cami, a student with a painful past — and a ruthless pack of wolves seized the opportunity to stage a violent coup. Now, in season two, a new status quo must be adjusted to, as the newly empowered werewolves control the city. Klaus struggles with weaknesses as Elijah desperately tries to save Hayley — now a hybrid — from a vicious spiral of self-destruction. Meanwhile, with the re-emergence of several Mikaelsons, “family is power” takes on new meaning.

SweetLeaf Water Drops Review

SweetLeaf sent me the entire line of Water Drops to review on my blog so I can share my honest opinions on them.  I was so excited because I am a huge Stevia fan. Stevia is a sweetener and sugar substitute extracted from the leaves of the plant species Stevia rebaudiana. It is 150 times sweeter than sugar and is said to minimally impact glucose levels.

SweetLeaf Water Drops is a line of water enhancers. They come in four fruit flavored blends in a 2.1 fl oz squeeze bottle. They are all natural, sugar and gluten-free water enhancers. What is a water enhancer? Well it just adds some flavoring to your plain water without artificial sweeteners.

Available In:

  • Peach Mango
  • Strawberry Kiwi
  • Lemon Lime
  • Raspberry Lemonade

I currently use SweetLeaf sweetener in my coffee. Honestly it doesn't need much at all for my coffee with creamer. But its a great sugar alternative that doesn't have that weird taste that some of the other sugar alternatives have.

What I'm drinking right now...

The girls loved this stuff. Normally they want extra juice and I can't give it to them because of the sugar content. But I can get away with a tiny squirt in a cup of water and they think its juice! They now run and grab the Water Drops and ask me for a drink. They really enjoyed the Peach Mango flavor. My personal favorite was the Raspberry Lemonade. I was very impressed by the authentic lemonade flavoring it had. They make about 32 servings even more if you stretch them.

She's taking off with all the Water Drops!

For a limited time only enjoy 30% off SweetLeaf  Water Drops at

I was provided a sample of SweetLeaf Water Drops in order to facilitate a review. All opinions are my own.

Xlear Care Kit Review

I received this product for free from the sponsor of the Moms Meet program, May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms Meet blogger, I agree to use this
product and post my opinion on my blog. My opinions do not necessarily reflect the opinions of May Media Group LLC or the manufacturer of this product.

*If you came here for the link to purchase the Xlear Care Kit for $25 down from $65 click HERE.

The Xlear Kit includes:
  • 1.5fl oz Xlear Nasal Spray
  • .75fl oz Xlear Nasal Spray  (3 Pack)
  • Non-Fluoride Peppermint Toothpaste
  • Spearmint Oral Rinse
  • 40ct Lemon Creme Gems Mints
  • 40ct Cinnamon Gems Mints
  • 12ct Peppermint Stronger Longer Gum (3 each)
  • 12ct Spearmint Stronger Longer Gum (3 each)
Have you heard of Xlear?

I haven't. So I checked them out online. First things first. Xlear is pronounced "clear".  I know you all were wondering about that one. Xlear was founded in 2000 and is the leading manufacturer of Xylitol-based products in North America.

Here is some info on the Benefits of Xylitol:

The addition of xylitol to saline nasal sprays, neti pots, and positive pressure bottles has been shown to make them more effective at helping to prevent ear infections in children, sinus infections in adults, and asthma and allergies in people of all ages. Xylitol helps the body’s natural cleansing process to clear away allergens, asthmatic triggers and other harmful bacteria. Xylitol is
also one of the newest, easiest and tastiest ways that people can improve oral health. Research done in widely different conditions confirms that xylitol use may reduce tooth decay.

Why have you not hear of Xlear?

If you haven't heard of them yet, like myself it is possible that the product is limited in your area. In my town its available in a couple of stores but it is not yet available at your local grocer. In the larger area of L.A. (CA)  it seems to be more readily available. You can find out who carries it HERE.

Spry Oral Rinse:

I really enjoyed this oral rinse. Compared to the other brand that burns, this one does not. It also tastes like a spearmint breath mint. Awesome right? And it also left my teeth feeling super clean. Its great that I can also swish this as a quick breath freshener too since its got such a minty flavor. It contains a more natural rinse combining aloe vera, chamomile and echinacea which helps soothe.  It  uses a low alcohol, Xylitol rich, pH-neutral formula. Spry Oral Rinse comes in Cool Mint, Spearmint, Wintergreen and Cinnamon. It retails for $6.99.

Spry Peppermint Toothpaste Non-Fluoride:

I liked using this toothpaste. The peppermint flavor isn't too pepperminty at all. It has the right amount of mint and leaves your teeth feeling super clean. My two toddlers don't mind it either. It contains 1/3rd Xylitol which provides 20-25% of the recommended daily dosage. Xylitol also increases mineral absorption into the enamel of the teeth. Spry Peppermint Toothpaste Non-Fluoride  retails for $5.99.

Bamboo Toothbrush:

I have always bought toothpaste brand toothbrushes and never one made of bamboo. At first glance I will admit I did not think this was going to be a toothbrush I liked to use very much. But after my first use I was wrong! I love this toothbrush. The bristles are not too soft or too hard, and I really enjoy the handle. Its now my favorite toothbrush.

Spry Gems Mints:

Ok yum. These Lemon Creme All-Natural & Sugar Free mints are amazing! They feature 100% Xylitol sweetener. I'm actually really impressed with the flavor of this mint. I normally dislike strong peppermint flavors and such but this is a mint I can handle. For those that like a nice stronger mint there is the Berry, Spearmint, Peppermint, Lemon Creme and Cinnamon flavors. 40 count of Gem Mints retails for $2.19.

Spry Dental Defense Gum:

For those that want a gum they come in 4 flavors. Spearmint, Wintergreen, Cinnamon and Peppermint. They sent me the peppermint and it was easy to just pop one out after dinner. These are great to just toss in your purse or pocket and share. 12 pieces retails for $2.29.

Xlear Saline Nasal Spray with Xylitol

The ONLY nasal spray that combines saline and xylitol to aid in the relief or irritants. Xylitol has been proven to decrease bacterial adherence to the nose.  Use this spray to alleviate congestion from colds, flu etc. This nasal spray is non-addictive and can be used daily. The 1.5 oz bottle retails for $14.99. This 3 pack of .75 oz  comes in your kit and normally costs $18.99 alone! They also make a nasal spray for kids.

Renuzit Giveaway

*The Renuzit brand provided me with a sample of Renuzit Pearls Scents in exchange for a product review.  However, all the opinions expressed here are my own.

Hello Readers! This is my first time doing a blog post on Renuzit Pearl Scents. You may have already seen this in the stores but this is my first time using them. So read on for more info and facts.

Renuzit has come out with a line of Refreshing odor eliminators available in the following aromas:

Blue Sky
Breeze Serenity
Sparkling Rain
Seductive Pineapple

I have used air fresheners for a long time. Especially when I have company or around the holidays or special occasion. But I haven't yet tried an alternative to the traditional air sprayed air fresheners. I have tried oil but I found it can be messy especially if you have toddlers.  Renuzit sent me the Sparkling Rain aroma Pearl Scents. Normally I prefer citrus or other smells, but when I opened the Pearl Scent I was surprised that it wasn't that overwhelming laundry smell I thought it might be. It was actually more of a refreshing smell. It does smell like fresh flowers got sprinkled on and now the grass on the ground is wet. I like the container too. It does have a lid you can twist off and twist back on.

  • No electricity or wall plugs needed
  • No flames
  • No bad aerosol
  • Cute Modern Design
  • Long Lasting
  • Odor Elimination

You can place it anywhere in the bedroom, the bathroom, behind the kitchen sink. Really the options are endless. I placed mine in different places throughout the house and it did not stick out in any way. It blended in with the surroundings and was very modern in appearance. The smell does cover a large area. If you plan on using it in a small room like a bathroom I would suggest ripping the top off just an inch or so and put the lid back on. That way a little bit is released at a time. One jar was enough for the entire living room which is rather large.  I would definitely purchase again. I want to try Seductive Pineapple next. I wonder what a Seductive Pineapple smells like...

Check them out on,  Facebook & Pinterest.

Love the stylus. I was very surprised at how responsive it was for such a versatile all in one tool. This is great for those who work with tablets at work or at home. If you don't want it on there all you have to do is screw it off. There is also a clip-on so you can stash it in your pocket and not have to worry that it falls out.

Phillips & Flathead:

Yes it has both! Just pull one end out and flip it around! Then use the other side to tighten on-the-go! It is kept tight with an O ring which I find super clever. Just remove the stylus end to expose the screwdriver and then get to turnin'!

It has a regular ballpoint pen that you can use to take your notes or write down your measurements. It is even refillable so once you use up all the ink all you have to do is refill it and you are good to go.

Ok I have to admit I could have used something like this around the house the other day. It seems as though I always misplace my level and having one like this would be super convenient. You don't even have to remember to bring it, it's already there.

Yep it has a ruler up to 4" and 10 cm. Super convenient to have on there for the random need to take measurements. You never know when you are going to need a ruler until you need one and you don't have one. I know I have been there.

They give you a one year guarantee on this pen. I didn't even know pens came with guarantees. For me and the price of this item its well worth the cost. This pen comes in Black, Silver and Yellow as shown. You can find this fancy 6-n-1 do it all Stylus Pen by Rebelite here.

Save-A-Lot Giveaway

I visited the Save-A-Lot in the Taft, CA. If you are not familiar with them check here to see if they have one in your area. It is one of only 2 grocery stores in my town. So we love to shop there because the other grocery store charges $6 for milk. Yep $6. At Save-A-Lot the milk was $3.79. I always tend to purchase food at Save-a-lot and occasionally dog treats, which are always a good price. So when I received a gift pack from Save-a-lot I was pleasantly surprised to see the contents were all brand name bath products.

The Suave Free & Gentle Body Wash Kids and the Suave 2-in-1 Surfs Up Shampoo were great for the girls! The Free & Gentle Body Wash didn't irritate their skin and it left them super squeaky clean. The 2-in-1 Shampoo was great on their hair. It lathers up nicely so you don't have to lather much to get it sudsy. The bottles stay closed pretty good. Even when they played with them they stayed closed and didn't' leak out.

I have been trying to find a good hair detangler for my twin girls, but I had not yet found one. The one I used didn't detangle very much as it did make your hair smell nice.  I used the Suave detangler that came in the pack they sent me just after their bath. I sprayed it on and towel dried their hair. One of my girls has straight hair and the other has curly hair and this detangler worked great! Violet has curly hair and not only did it  detangle but it also made her curls more fluffy and less wild. I wondered how much the product was in store. I was very surprised its only $ 1.99!* (prices may vary by location)

The Caress Body Wash smells just like I remember it used to back in the day. I used to use their soaps when I was younger. This body wash it like an updated version of their soaps. I loved the smell and the price is right! The Dove soap is great because its always been a standard soap in our house. Its a great price didn't irritate any of our skin, and they come in a double pack.
